Warm-up: What does the selection tool look like?
Lasso

2. Step 1
Go to File/ Create/ Logos/
Choose one logo style

3. Step 2
Type Alien Sighting in the Text box.
Press OK

4. Step 3
Go to Image/ Canvas Size

5. Step 4
Change the canvas size to 800 pixels high.
Press resize twice.

6. Step 5 Look for an image of Mars or the moon Surface in Google
Right- Click Copy

7. Step 6
Go to Edit/ Paste as/ New Layer

8. Step 7
Scale image to fit canvas.

9. Step 8
Find an image of an alien on the internet with a solid color background.
Right-click/copy
Edit/ Paste As/ New Layer

10. Step 9 Go to Select/ By Color
Select the solid color around the alien (or use the lasso tool)
Choose the DEL button

11. Step 10
Go to Select/ None

12. Step 11 Choose background layer
Go to Filter/ Light and Shadow/ supernova flare
Play with other flares

13. Step 12
Go to File/ Export your image as a “Alien” with the JPEG file type.

14. Step 13
Subject: Alien – Name - Period
Follow the same steps but put dog or cat on the wing of the space shuttle.
The logo should read “Free Ride”

Deselects image in order to proceed with additional steps
Select/ By Color
Selects by a single color in order to isolate a color
Canvas Size
The background for the image can be increased or decreased to suit the project

An extension of GIMP that allows for creating special font effects
