Issac Newton’s Law Of Motion
2
Newton’s First Law Of Motion
An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed & in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. This means that there is tendency of objects to keep on doing what they're doing. All objects resist changes in their state of motion. In the absence of an unbalanced force, an object in motion will maintain this state of motion.
3
Activity Time ! For this first activity we will be doing Newton’s first law which is also known as “ the law of inertia”. You will need to gather these supplies which include a penny, a cardboard & a cup of your choice. You will lay the cardboard on top of the cup you will place the penny directly on the center of the cardboard. After you have done this you will flick the cardboard & the penny will drop into the cup
4
Activity Time ! This is also another activity using Newton’s first law as well. You will need a toy car, a model of a person & a text book. You will place the model of the person into the toy car you will give it a push with a great amount of force & you will see the impact that has happened to the model .
5
Newton’s Second Law Of Motion
Acceleration is produced when a force acts on a mass. The greater the mass .Everyone knows that heavier objects require more force to move the same distance as lighter objects
6
Activity Time ! In this first activity for Newton’s second law of motion you will only be in need of a soccer ball . As you kick the ball you are hardly using any force onto the object which allows it to move into a higher distance .
7
Activity Time ! In this next activity you will need nothing more than a table & yourself. As you push onto the table you see no affect on it , it has more mass than the soccer ball did which causes you to struggle to move this.
8
Newton’s Third Law Of Motion
For every action there is an equal and opposite re-action.
9
Activity Time ! For this activity we will be using Newton’s third law of motion. You will need nothing more than a balloon & you will need to exhale into the balloon causing it to get bigger each time. DO NOT TIE THE BALLOON! You will then let go of the balloon & you will see the air rush out as the balloon causing it to fly upwards
10
Activity Time ! For the last activity of Newton’s Third law of motion.
You will need nothing more than a partner & both of you will raise your hands over your head pushing each other. You will see that the force done onto one of the partner will affect both partners.
