4. Next, make a list of the MAJOR ERAS and write abbreviations for each one. For example-
EC = Exploration & Colonization R = Revolution CG = Constitution and Government ER = Early Republic IR = Industrial Revolution AJ = Age of Jackson RM = Reform WE = Westward Expansion CW= Civil War RC= Reconstruction 5. Jot down events, issues, and people that help you remember each era. On the sample problem page of the social studies section – 1. Make a TIMELINE of KEY DATES. Write 3 WORDS to help you remember each date. 2. Write down any acronyms you use: RAPPS, FLIPRCS, WAJMMAJ 3. Spend 5-10 min. brainstorming content learned in class. ADD these events, issues, & people to your timeline. If you get stuck, think of the last thing learned before the test and work backwards.

Answer All the Questions. Don’t leave any questions unanswered. There is no penalty for guessing. Answer all questions, even if you’re only guessing! Use the E-R-A approach. EXAMINE the Question, RECALL What you Know, and APPLY What you Know to answer each question. Use the Process of Elimination. When answering a multiple-choice question, certain choices are either irrelevant, lack a connection to the question, or are inaccurate statements. Eliminate these choices, then choose the best response that remains. Read the Question Carefully. If a word in the question is unfamiliar, try to break it down into words that are familiar. Look at the prefix (start of the word), root or suffix (ending) for clues to the meaning of the word. Take your time! Don’t turn it in until after lunch….
