THE VIOLIN The violin is a carefully made hollow wooden box, with a neck protruding from the top, and a internal sound post connecting the front belly and the back. The sides of the violin, curiously, are called ribs. The belly is reinforced by an internal bass bar, which runs vertically through the instrument underneath the lowest string. BY ANDREW EFSTATHIOU

History on the violin It is believed that the violin originated from Italy in the early 1500s. It is believed to have evolved from the fiddle and rebec, both were bowed string instruments from the Medieval period. The violin is also believed to have emerged from the lira da braccio, a violin-like instrument of the Renaissance period. The viol, which came before the violin, is also closely related.

Thank you for watching The maker of the violin
Andrea Amati was an Italian inventor who was credited with the invention of the violin. The reason he was able to do so is because he was positioned, by King Charles IX of France, at the time, to create something new and exciting for the kingdom to enjoy, musically. He would create this instrument and it would look very different then the one we are used to seeing today as they were splashed with interesting drawings as well paintings that covered the instrument from head to toe. Thank you for watching

feedback Good information Andrew. You don’t have any pictures showing the different parts of the Violin however. You could have also included some information of its role in the orchestra. C – Mr O’Sullivan
