4. Ways of delivering drugs and devices
There is no evidence that the method of reducing IOP has an independent influence on glaucoma pathophysiology
An IOP reduction of 20% achieved by a patient taking acetazolamide would be expected to have the same impact on the disease as a 20% reduction achieved by the same patient taking a prostaglandin (PG) analogue, everything else being equal
However, as far as the patient as a whole is concerned, and in terms of the prospects for successful outcomes over the long term, the impact of alternative treatment strategies is likely to be different
