Ms. Passer’s News from Room 106
Week of: December 5th, 2016 Happy December! What a beautiful time of the year. Elvis the Elf arrived on Thursday of last week!! He’s already up to sneaky things but he also delivers a random act of kindness note for the students each day! He’s really looking for kindness, awesome soaring behaviors, and best efforts within learning! On Wednesday, we have a Magician Assembly – how fun!! We will review for Topic 7 on Monday and take the test on Tuesday. Review the practice test at home!! Topic 8 focuses on using strategies and properties to add and subtract. We will be taking our Unit 2 test this week. It will consist of two passages but with many questions that go with the passages. These questions will go hand in hand with the strategies we learned in Unit 2. (Sequence of Events, Text/Graphic Features, Drawing Conclusions, Cause and Effect, and Main Idea and Details.) We will also focus on Fables this week. *An FYI on Reading Logs- as 3rd graders, students are required to read 20 minutes a night for at least 20 days out of each month. My goal for the students is for them to read minutes a night! In Social Studies, we will dig deeper into the presidents of the United States and start our research project. In Science, students will finish the Solar System and start discussing living things.
