2. Overview
A survey conducted in found that over 80% of Miami-Dade County residents had one or more of the following risk factors: overweight, no physical activity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and/or cigarette smoke.
In the U.S., 7 out of 10 deaths and the vast majority of illness, disability, and health care costs are caused by chronic diseases.
FDOH Miami-Dade County recognized the need for the community to join forces to combat the increasing rates of chronic disease in the county and the Consortium was established.

3. What is the Consortium?
The Consortium is comprised of over 400  organizations, all united by the common belief that through collaboration and prevention-focused initiatives, Miami-Dade County residents can live longer, happier and healthier.

4. Make Healthy Happen Miami
Make Healthy Happen Miami is an initiative of the Consortium for a Healthier Miami-Dade and the Partnerships to Improve Community Health (PICH).
PICH focus areas include tobacco and smoke-free environments, environments with healthy foods or beverages, physical activity opportunities, and prevention of chronic diseases through clinical and community linkages.
The Make Healthy Happen Miami campaign aims to connect residents to the places where we live, learn, work, eat, and play in Miami- Dade County that make healthy living easier.
