QUICK REFLECTION TIME! Group Task with Flipchart Paper.
Make Your Mark has been a huge success this year for Derbyshire, as you’ve seen by the figures and tables that I have shown you. But now it’s time to briefly think about an action plan to make it even better for next year. In your groups, think of a structured plan of how we can deliver Make Your Mark effectively and quickly to our schools in Derbyshire for next year, so hopefully we can smash Callum’s target of 30,000! For example only: My idea would explore: Only to use ballots if the school can’t get the whole school to access the online survey (that I will create again for next year). If they can access the online survey, we get the Headteacher of each school to it out to all of their students, through their school address (or however they communicate with their students) so they can fill out the survey, where the results will go straight to me. This means that we can get Make Your Mark done quite fast but effectively as we don’t have to wait around for ballot papers, as they have been quite late in the past. Also, if they do decide to do it through ballot paper, emphasise that they shouldn’t the results back to BYC, but should send them to either their Youth Councillor or their MYP representative, as then we aren’t as accurate with our results, as they get lost and we don’t know our final total until a few months after Make Your Mark.

Quick Thank You’s Ruth P: For ing out all of the resources and messages that I needed to communicate to you all. MYP’s: Callum, Lawrence, Oliver and Rosie: For being amazing representatives for Derbyshire and for going above and beyond to get Young People’s voices heard. Youth Councillors: For returning so many votes and driving these campaigns through your schools, some even at the last minute. I know that I nagged you quite a lot, but it seems to show that nagging you, gets us a lot of votes and increases our percentage turnouts. Keep up the amazing work, we will smash this years total next year and hopefully reach Callum’s target of 30,000!

I know that I have managed and taken a massive role in organising Make Your Mark this year, but honestly I don’t need a thank you from you guys because I’m passionate about making a change. I am more than willing to give up my time to make resources, ensure you have the correct information to take these amazing campaigns into your schools and to record data that you collect from young people. I’m just so grateful and proud to be part of such an amazing group of passionate and hard-working Young People who give up their spare time to make a massive difference to other Young People’s lives. Never underestimate the difference YOU can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. We are the future generation, we will let young people’s voices be heard, and you guys are the people who allow their voices to be heard, which is such a extraordinary thing to be a part of.
