1. Steps to survey each transect:
Find a reference point and mark it with the GPS (UTM with NAD83 projection)
Define a direction (e.g. cardinal or uphill) and note the true (magnetic north) compass bearing
Have the 1st surveyor move to the end of the transect while being guided by the 2nd surveyor using the compass heading
The 2nd surveyor moves towards the 1st surveyor collecting depth measurements as instructed below
Note the GPS location when the 2nd surveyor reaches the end of the transect
Repeat steps 3-5 for the remaining three perpendicular transects
