Inverse sequence-tagged repeat (ISTR) is a PCR-based technique which allows studying individuals and population’s genetic diversity, identifying cultivars, among other applications. The aim of this work was to estimate the genetic variability of a mango progeny using ISTR markers. The evaluation of mango genotypes with ISTR markers generated 40 polymorphic bands, corroborating the utility of this technique for identification of genetic variability in this specie Índices y sus abreviaturas Combinations of oligonucleotides ISTR F2/B2B F5/B2B F3/B3 polymorphic bands(np) 15 10 no polymorphic bands (nnp) 1 total of polymorphic bands (n) 16 Average of polymorphic bands(np (P) 13,6 Number of banding patterns (Tp) 36 9 23 Number of unique banding patterns(Tpu) 31 6 17 Identification percentage(%) (Pi) 86,1 66,6 73,9 Number. average bands patterns (I) 22,6 Number. average unique banding patterns(Iu) 18 expected heterozygosity(Hep) 0,26 0,56 0,46 Average expected heterozygosity(He) 0,42 Figure 2 : Cluster analysis of hybrid selections mango, based on the 41 markers generated ISTR Concluding Remarks The three primer combinations detect high polymorphism in the mango progeny. The unique patterns of bands obtained with the primer combinations F3 / B3 and F5 / B2B allowed to differentiate into genotype located within the same group, resulting promising to determine diversity within the progeny. Genotype for the development of cultivars (SH-6, SH-15 and SH-25) and for use as rootstock (SH-38) were obtained.
