Today we will continue with a discussion of Financial Aid.
Login to office 365 through the DP website
Open your Quickwrite Notebook… you can open it from the app since it is already created and you are logged into office 365… if you open through the online version, click “edit in OneNote”.
Go into the “Financial Aid” section we created on Monday.

2. Add a new page in the financial aid section (don’t add a new section)
Title this page “facebook post”

3. Write a paragraph quickwrite on your “facebook post” page responding to your friend who has decided NOT to go to college because he saw a video saying college will cost up to $200,000 and he doesn’t think he can afford it.
Share with the class

4. Add a second page in the Financial Aid section and title it “Federal Student Aid”
Go to my DP South staff web page and File  SAVE AS the file “Federal Student Aid” as a pdf in your desktop AVID folder

5. Drag the “Federal Student Aid” file from your desktop AVID folder to the federal student aid page and “insert printout”.
It will appear as a printout and you should resize it appropriately.

6. Let’s read and discuss these six ideas….

7. Add a third page to the financial aid section and title it “driving college cost”.
Go to my DP South staff webpage and SAVE “driving college cost” to your desktop AVID folder as a pdf.

8. Drag (and “insert printout”) the “driving college cost” file from your desktop AVID folder to the page you titled “driving college cost”.
Resize it as needed
Read the article

9. Double click below the article and write a paragraph discussing your thoughts on the article…
Do you think the article is accurate or swayed in the wrong direction… why or why not?

10. Add a 4th page to the Financial Aid section and title it “My Colleges”
Minimize the OneNote and go to the DP South website

11. Go to the Deer Park South website and click on Naviance Family connection
Login to your Naviance account

12. Go to the “colleges” tab
Supermatch
Search for ONE college you are interested in and “pin” it.
Also click on “add to colleges I’m thinking about”

13. Click on the college name and it will open a page with information about that college
Click on the “financial aid” tab

14. Add up the approximate total cost for tuition, room/board, and fees.
Go to the page in onenote that you titled “my colleges” and type the name of this college.

15. From the information you see in Naviance on your college, answer the following three questions and place them on your onenote “My Colleges” page.

16. Type the name of your college on your “My Colleges” page and then find…
1. approximate total cost per year
2. percent of freshman receiving need based aid
3. average amount of need based aid for freshman
