All About Mrs. Murdock This is my fourth year to teach. I was raised in Murfreesboro, TN. My husband and I have a high school senior, a 3 year old, and 1 year old. I enjoy traveling, reading, crossfit, and anything outdoors. I am SO excited about this school year and feel very blessed to have your child in my class. I look forward to an awesome year!

Daily Procedures * 7:30-2:30 –Students arriving after 7:30 will be considered tardy. * Please send all money in an envelope and place in your child’s D.O.T. binder pouch. * Absences- Please send a note including your child’s full name, date of absence, reason, and your signature.

First Grade Curriculum

D.O.T. Binder * A daily communication between school and home.
* In this folder: Agenda (please initial daily) Communication Notes and Money Calendar Sight Words/Math Facts Homework Graded Papers and Daily Work (please clean back pocket out daily)

Grading Rubric All graded papers will come home in your child’s D.O.T. Please remove them. Progress Reports will be sent home each nine weeks. Report cards will be sent home each nine weeks. Please sign and return the following day. In first grade we use number grades on your child’s work and report card. (1,2,3, or 4) Exceeding grade level standard. Producing quality work consistently. Meeting the grade level standard and producing quality work. Progressing toward the standard. Producing the required grade level work with teacher direction and assistance. 1 Beginning to develop the standard. Not yet able to produce required grade level work.

Awards’ Night K-2 will have one Awards’ Night this school year. It will be at the end of the year.

Donations / Supplies Thank you for sending in your child’s supplies and classroom wish list items. From time to time I will ask for special donations such as art supples, rewards, etc. I will communicate the needed items on the newsletter or in a DOJO message.

Behavior I like to focus on positive behaviors. We will use Class Dojo to do this. Your child will earn positive points throughout the week and record them weekly on their Dojo paper in their binder. You can also check their points by logging onto Class Dojo. I also use the magnet system. Each child has 3 magnets. The reslut in losing all 3 magnets in a day will be a mark in the agenda. T-Talking DP-Disrespect to People DT-Disrespect to Things FD-Not following directions OT-Off Task H-Horse playing You can evaluate your child’s behavior each day by using the letter code written in your child’s agenda- please initial daily!

Behavior School-wide Behavior! Bashes and Stallion Express:
If your child has one or less marks for the week, he/she will earn a punch on their punch card. Punches will be used at the end of the nine weeks, either to go to the Bash or to get a prize from the Stallion Express. 8 punches= Behavior Bash Choice of whether to use or save….

Communication * My * I will communicate through a variety of methods: newsletters, website, calendar, conferences, , report cards, progress reports, DOJO, and D.O.T. binder. * Important letters, permission slips, etc. will come home in the front pocket of your child’s D.O.T. binder. Please read them carefully! It is best to contact me through or DOJO If you call, you will need to leave a message with the office and I will get back with you as time permits.

Field Trips * T-shirt order forms coming home SOON!
* We plan to take 2 off-campus field trips. * Class t-shirts should be worn on each trip. * We usually ask for parent volunteers. Sometimes it is necessary for us to set a limit for the number of parents attending. * Any parent attending a field trip must provide their own transportation.

Snacks and Birthdays We will have snack on an individual basis this year. Please send a healthy snack with your child daily. If you would like to send a special snack for your child’s birthday, please let me know. Please send all snacks to school in the morning. School board policy indicates that all shared snacks must be store bought. * If you send a special snack, please don’t forget all necessary supplies: napkins, forks, etc.

Celebrations We will have a few class or holiday parties this year.
I will let you know in advance what I need you to send.

Transportation * Please make sure your child’s transportation tag is on his/her backpack for the first couple of weeks. * A change of transportation form must be sent if there is a change in your child’s transportation- calls will no longer be honored. These forms can be found in your child’s agenda and there is a link on my website. * Dismissal begins at 2:30 and ends promptly at 2:45.
