“It is a serious mistake to presume that the Christian can maintain a neutral or passive attitude toward error. Contrariwise, he must oppose error as definitely as he embraces truth. Error is never static or stagnant, but is always aggressive. For that reason it has never died a natural death, nor can we ignore it to death. “Error ceaselessly seeks to corrupt, efface, and neutralize the truth, and to destroy all whom it enmeshes in its tentacles. The grand reason then for opposing error is to retrieve precious souls from its blight, and to deliver them from bondage to freedom, from darkness to marvelous light.”—W. D. Miller, Modern Divine Healing, p. 9. Part Five: A Guide to Spiritual Growth, Chapter 67, “Psychic Healing,” p 304

“Our attitude becomes: I gladly and willingly take, by faith in the facts, my finished work of emancipation that was established at Calvary; I reckon myself to be dead indeed to sin and alive to God in Christ. This is taking up one’s cross.” Part One: Principles of Spiritual Growth, Chapter 13, “Discipleship,” pp 55-56

“To ‘walk in the light’ is a metaphor for following Jesus
“To ‘walk in the light’ is a metaphor for following Jesus. Imitating Jesus with the Spirit’s help, John insists, is the sign that we have joined with the apostles in the fellowship of faith. We are authentic Christians. But, he continues, let’s not be deceived: We will make wrong choices at times. Nevertheless, grace is given in full measure: We can take what forgiveness we need.”

“By faith in the work of the cross, the old man is put off; by faith in our heavenly position in Christ, the new man is put on.” Part Two: Foundations of Spiritual Growth, Chapter 19, “Position Defined and Illustrated,” p 82 “Our reckoning is to be based upon our position. We count ourselves alive unto God in Christ. Through our faith in this fact, the Holy Spirit makes this truth real in our condition, our growth. We abide in Him above, and He manifests Himself in us below.” Part Four: The Realization of Spiritual Growth, Chapter 50, “Reckoning in Philippians 3:10,” p 225

“Death in the Scriptures always means separation, and never annihilation. Physical death means separation of the soul/spirit from the physical body, never annihilation. Spiritual death means separation from God, not annihilation. The second death is spiritual death perpetuated into eternity, not annihilation. “Likewise, death of the old man. The old man, all that we were in Adam, stands crucified to all that we are in Christ. The old man can make no contribution to the new, because the believer’s positional death with Christ has separated the old from the new. Our old identity in Adam stands crucified as it relates to our new identity in Christ. Death here, as everywhere in Scripture, means separation, not annihilation.” pp 9-10
