PREDATION In predation, one individual, the predator, captures, kills, and consumes another individual, the prey.

MIMICRY In a defense called mimicry, a harmless species resembles a poisonous or distasteful species.

CAMOUFLAGE Camouflage is a method of concealing coloration that allows an otherwise visible organism or object to remain indiscernible from the surrounding environment.

COMPETITION Competition results from fundamental niche overlap—the use of the same limited resource by two or more species.

MUTUALISM Mutualism is a cooperative relationship in which both species derive some benefit.

COMMENSALISM Commensalism is an interaction in which one species benefits and the other is not affected.

PARASITISM Parasitism is a species interaction that resembles predation in that one individual is harmed while the other individual benefits.

ASSIGNMENT Construct a pamphlet, poster, flip chart, or brochure showcasing 4 community interactions. Each interaction must have: Name of the interaction Abridged definition of the interaction Colorful, accurate illustration of the interaction
