2 PREDATION In predation, one individual, the predator, captures, kills, and consumes another individual, the prey.

3 MIMICRY In a defense called mimicry, a harmless species resembles a poisonous or distasteful species.

4 CAMOUFLAGE Camouflage is a method of concealing coloration that allows an otherwise visible organism or object to remain indiscernible from the surrounding environment.

5 COMPETITION Competition results from fundamental niche overlap—the use of the same limited resource by two or more species.

6 MUTUALISM Mutualism is a cooperative relationship in which both species derive some benefit.

7 COMMENSALISM Commensalism is an interaction in which one species benefits and the other is not affected.

8 PARASITISM Parasitism is a species interaction that resembles predation in that one individual is harmed while the other individual benefits.

9 ASSIGNMENT Construct a pamphlet, poster, flip chart, or brochure showcasing 4 community interactions. Each interaction must have: Name of the interaction Abridged definition of the interaction Colorful, accurate illustration of the interaction
