5 Classroom Rules Respect – yourself, others, and all property.
Follow all directions. Directions will not be repeated due to the student’s failure to listen – it takes away from legitimate student questions. Headphones/ear buds must be removed when you enter the classroom. Bring all materials to class. Follow all school rules. This includes tardies, wearing ID badges, dress code, and NO food/drink in the classroom. WATER ONLY! If you are tardy, I will count you late. Even if you are like 2 steps from my door. (free pass on first week of school)

6 Cell Phone Policy ZERO TOLERANCE!!!
If I see it, it is mine until the end of class. If it becomes a reoccurring problem, there will be other disciplinary actions. You should not need your phone for anything… you have chromebook and there is clock near the door! :)

7 Late Work When an assignment is submitted after a deadline, a penalty of fifteen (15) points per class meeting may be deducted from the grade with a maximum of 30 points deducted. 1 day late = 15 points 2 days late = 30 points For Example: Due date Sept. 15 by midnight on Moodle. If submitted at 12:01, you will be deducted 15 points for a late assignment. Deadlines are very important not only in high school, but in life.

8 Make Up Work Make-Up Work All students shall be allowed to make up work when they are absent from class. Students shall have a time equal to days absent from class plus one day to complete all missed assignments. Under extenuating circumstances such as long-term illness or family emergencies, teachers may choose to give students more than one day for each day missed to make-up assignments. In situations where the assignments were given before the student was absent, a shorter time frame may be required at the teacher’s discretion. Make-up tests or quizzes should be administered during tutorial time to prevent the student from missing additional class time; however, students who cannot attend tutorials must be given the opportunity to make up this work during the regular school day. PLEASE DO NOT DISRUPT CLASS TO ASK ABOUT WHAT YOU MISSED OR ASK IF YOU MISSED ANYTHING…. We work daily in class!

9 Retest Policy All students in grades 9-12 or enrolled in high school credit courses in grade 8, will be provided the opportunity to re-submit summative assignments after receiving the grade/feedback of each assignment if the grade is below 80% and the assignment was turned in on time. Once posted in the grade book, students will have two (2) school days to request the opportunity to re-do the assignment with a RETEST FORM AND shall complete the new assignment within five (5) school days of the original grade posting in the grade book. Prior to retesting on a summative task, the student must attend at least 1 tutorial session with their teacher. Retake grade cannot exceed an 80. If you score higher than the original grade then that grade will be put inthe gradebook. For example, Original score 45, Retest score 65. The 65 would be the new score.

10 Restroom Breaks Only 2 restrooms breaks per six weeks
You will get a pass each six weeks that will allow you 2 trips If you lose this pass, you will not be permitted to use the restroom during class. First 10 minutes and last 10 minutes, no restroom trips will be granted. Please utilize your 5 minute passing periods wisely! First set of passes will come during the second week of school.

11 Ms. Smith’s Classes Find the other members in this class that are sitting at the same colored card as you; this is your group Come up with a book title that emcompasses every person in your group. EX: Beach Bums if everyone likes the beach. Next, each person in your group will represent a chapter, so if you have 5 people, your book will have 5 chapters. Come up with a title for each chapter based on that person. Ex: I am chapter 1 and my title would be Anchor’s Away because I love Anchors as you probably noticed. You have 10 minutes to work with your group on this. When you have a title and each chapter titles, come get a piece of anchor chart paper from me. Use Markers to write it down, see the example up front.

12 Index Card Exit Ticket Write your first and last name with your class period at the top of the card. What is one worry you have about high school? What is something that excites you about high school? What are you involved in at Eaton already? What is one thing you did this summer? What is your summer reading book? What are two things I need to know about you to help you be successful in my class?
