This week we will be learning about the process and impact of bioengineering!!! Objectives: To gain understanding of bioengineering through practice, research and by interacting with related local professionals. Perform literature searches, write and peer review proposals of your own, and present your projects to the class. To use the engineering design process to create prosthetics and assistive devices, with the cornerstone element being the assembly and modification of a bionic hand.

Building the Finger: The Details You have only min!!! Materials are in your zip-lock bag. Successful completion of the task will reward you with more funding as we move into our next engineering challenge!! If you need help, there are instructions and examples – but using these will limit the funding you receive for your work!!! Be prepared to share you work with the class and discuss problems, setbacks, and experiences.

Bioengineering Challenge – Building a Hand Engineering Teams – design process and setting goals, member roles, deadlines, funding, etc. Class presentations of results, project feedback and summary of process

Bioengineering Challenge: Evaluation
Formative assessment throughout unit to check for understanding (exit tickets, activity worksheets, etc.) Summative Assessment: Bioengineering a Hand Team Presentation & Building Packet – authentic assessment covering engineering design process and bioengineering principles.
