General Information School Hours: 8:30 – 3:00 ~ Students are tardy after 8:30 Lunch: 11:40 – 12:20 Specials: 2:20 – 2:50 6 day rotation: (media, PE, music, computer lab: 2:00, PE, music) specials calendar on website and sent home Recess: 9:40-10:00 Snack: during recess (optional) Homework: Sent home every Monday in homework binder, to be returned Friday. Math pages pulled from book will be daily. Quarterly Book Projects Reading: Every child should read at least minutes per night Reading group assignments or book of choice

Classroom Policies Community agreements and classroom expectations are posted in the classroom: Mutual Respect Attentive Listening No put downs/use appreciations The Right to Participate/The Right to Pass Students are expected to always do their best! Students will bring home a weekly report on Fridays, to be signed and returned on Mondays. Ryan has a school-wide misconduct ticket for serious infractions

New! Thinking Maps! Our school is participating in Thinking Maps training this year. We are excited to implement this great program with all students K-6! Thinking Maps help students communicate their thinking and are based on 8 cognitive skills: Brainstorming, Describing, Classifying, Sequencing, Comparing and Contrasting, Cause and Effect, Whole to Part Relationships, and Making Analogies.

Assessments DIBELS = Dynamic Indicator of Basic Early Literacy Skills ~ Determines basic reading ability and diagnoses reading strengths and/or needs. Given 3 times each year. Galileo Assessments for Math and Reading ~ 1 test per quarter: pre-test, test 1, test 2, post test website: Classroom assessments – teacher created tests/quizzes, Journeys assessments, My Math assessments, individual and group work, projects, presentations, participation, observation, along with other activities. STAR reading comprehension assessment AZ Merit State testing ~ April 2018
