3 The Burmese Government
President: Thein Stein Thein Stein denies the presence of the Rohingya as an ethnic group of Burma, labelling them Bengalis  Cause: Burma’s 1982 Citizenship Act denies the Rohingya people citizenship, and forces them to claim to be Bengali migrants, allowing the government to easily deport them.

4 The Rohingya Muslims There are around 1.33 million Rohingya living in Burma The Rohingya are considered to be illegal “foreigners” by the Burmese government

5 Conflict They suffer vicious attacks and systematic abuse by Burma’s government. The Rohingya Muslim ethnic minority in Burma have been called “the most oppressed people on Earth”. The Rohingya face many restrictions including: Limits on the right to marry and bear children Limits on movement Forced labor Denial of due process Segregation Etc.
