Curriculum The kindergarten curriculum consists of Reading, Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Our curriculum follows the Florida State Standards, providing your child with a well-rounded and complete education. Report Cards- Standard based Journeys Reading Series

Homework Homework guidelines will be distributed quarterly once we begin. However daily reading begins on the first day of school. Sight words will be assigned on a monthly basis starting in September. A reading log will also start on Sept. Your child’s red folder is their homework folder. Your child’s homework folder must come to school on a daily basis along with the school planner. Book reports/Projects – At times, there will be a special report due. These reports are to be created and presented by each student. Reports are to be turned in on the due date.

Lunch and Birthdays Lunch and breakfast can be prepaid by check, online or cash. Each student has their own individual accounts. Ice Cream and Chocolate Chip Cookies on Fridays $1.00 (these funds cannot be taken out of your child’s account). Birthday celebrations will only take place on the day of at 12:30 pm. Cupcakes, napkins and juice boxes are encouraged. Please notify me ahead of time so that we may plan accordingly.

Lunch Application Families are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to complete a Lunch Application Form by September 29th (ONLY 1 FORM PER FAMILY) Part 1: List family members that live in the home Part 2: Complete if you receive State/Government Benefits. Planners Planners are required by the school and are $7.
The planner must go home and return to school on a daily basis. Please check your child’s planner every day for important information. You will find your child’s daily homework in the planner.

Review with your child their weekly work
Friday Folders Friday folders are the blue folders. They go home on Fridays with your child’s graded work and come back on Mondays. Please empty the folder unless there is something that needs to be signed and returned to me. Review with your child their weekly work

Money Procedures Please make sure that all money is in an envelope with your child’s name and what the money is for. I highly encourage that all parents make online payments if possible for everything. Checks are only accepted for lunch account.

Fieldtrips Three fieldtrips throughout the year.
Only registered volunteers will be allowed to attend. Three volunteers per trip allowed- class drawing if necessary.

Attendance Be here everyday! Doors open at 8:15.
Students are marked tardy if they arrive after 8:35am. If a student is absent the parent/guardian has 48 hours to excuse it through a note, phone call, or . Students with perfect attendance will be recognized at the end of the school year.

Dismissal Carpool pickup is at 2:30.
Students who are not picked up by 2:50 will be signed into LEAP and there will be a charge. Early Release Days – dismissal is at 12:00 p.m. If you pick-up from the car lane: Please hang a red decal from your rearview mirror and make sure to include your child’s name using a dark permanent marker. Decals will be provided. Early Pick-up is not allowed after 2:00 p.m. If there is a change in the way that your child is getting home, the best way to notify me is by sending a note the day before or calling the office before 2:00 p.m. DO NOT NOTIFICATION ON DAY OF CHANGE.

Conferences Given by appointment In person- after school 3:00-3:30pm
Twice a year (fall and spring) or if there is a concern Report Cards are standard based and are given in the 2-4 quarter. The first conference replaces report card for the first quarter.

Volunteer Hours Parent participation is vital to our school’s success and helps us thrive in so many ways! We encourage volunteerism through a variety of involvement including PTSO, Meet the Masters, holiday events, field trips, academic competitions, lunch assistance, carpool, etc. We kindly ask each family to complete 30 volunteer hours per school year.
