1 Family Medicine Rotation
Central City Family Medicine Rotation

2 Typical Schedule Weekdays start at 7 a.m. in the hospital rounding on the inpatients You will head to clinic after this (usually 8ish) Clinic for the rest of the day which usually finishes up sometime between 3-6 p.m. depending on the day and who you are working with You will work with one physician in the clinic each day and spend an equal amount of time with each of them throughout the rotation

3 Who you work with There are four physicians in the clinic
You will work with one of them per day and spend an equal amount of time with each of them throughout the rotation If anything interesting comes up with a different doctor or one of the PA’s they will usually try to grab you for it There are also specialty clinics on various days of the week that come to the hospital (orthopedics, cardiology, sports medicine, pulmonology, etc.) that you can arrange to rotate in as well if interested

4 Call schedule You are expected to take call one weekend per month
Weekend call consists of seeing any inpatients in the hospital each morning, as well as urgent care clinic from 9 – 12 on Saturday morning You will work with the PA on call in the emergency room; you are expected to take call up until 12 a.m. each night, after which they will only call you for traumas/codes/interesting cases You can stay at the house or somewhere else close if nothing is going on in the ER; some days I wouldn’t get called at all, sometimes there would be 7-8 per day so it just depends on the day

5 CALL SCHEDULE On weeks that you aren’t taking weekend call, you are expected to take call two nights per week You are on call from when clinic gets out until 12 a.m., and only trauma/codes/interesting cases after that Which days/weekends you take call are up to you and whatever works with your schedule

6 Housing The hospital has a house right next to the hospital and clinic that you will stay at There is a small kitchen, dining room, living room with a TV, bathroom, and a bedroom There is also an office in the house that one of the hospital staff workers works at during the day There are lunches available at the clinic about half of the days of the week They also provide you with a stipend (about $100 per month) that can be used at most of the local businesses in town Free membership at the local fitness center
