Back to contents page WHAT DID THE VIKINGS WEAR? Viking clothes were made from wool, linen and animal skins. The Vikings were skilful weavers and made their own clothes. Women, with the help of children, made the wool into yarn and used natural dyes from plants to give it colour. Men wore tunics and trousers and women wore a long dress with a pinafore over it. Their clothes were fastened with belts and brooches

Wild animals e.g. deer, wild boar, fox, beaver, and bear. Fish e.g. trout, mackerel, and salmon. Domesticated animals e.g. chicken, goat, sheep and pigs. Eggs from hens and wild birds eggs. 5 VIKING HOUSES Most people lived on farms the Vikings lived in long rectangular houses made upright with timbers. They was a fire in the middle of a room .The smoke escaped through a hole in in the roof. Back to contents
