You MUST check your transcript on-line! Is it accurate? If not…Print it, write detailed notes, and give it to your school counsellor ASAP! Go to the BC Ministry of Education Website

Do Your Research: Go to Post-Secondary Websites for updated program requirements! Visit Institutions of interest in person or Virtual On-line Tours! Talk to people in your life that you trust!

Requirements for Post-Secondary in BC
Access Post-Secondary School Websites for Updated Admission Requirements For University Entrance General University/College Requirements: English 12 3 Approved Academic Courses (check Approved Course List for each institutions) Personal Profile, Essay Submissions, Webcam Interview Questions, Specific Requirements for a Particular School or Program may be applicable.

Stay Calm & Remember Remember all offers are “Conditional” until the institutions receive your final grades at the end of June! Check out all the scholarships offered! Admission criteria from college or other post-secondary is generally lower

English Language Proficiency
Institutions vary on the achieved mark they require in English 12 or equivalent (and whether they consider just the exam or a blended mark) – so check the English Language Proficiency for each Students that have not been here for at least 3 years or students that don’t meet the % requirement will need to write an exam: LPI, TOEFL, IELTS, other (check each university)

Application deadlines are usually at the end of December Try to have your Common Application forms ( and reference letters done by December 1st Most institutions will require an ACT or SAT score Check for specific information Register for the SAT at (more information in counselling office)

A Quick Review In order to graduate you need 80 credits (20 courses)…
English 10, 11 and 12 Mathematics 10 and 11 Physical Education 10 Planning 10 Science 10 and Science 11 or 12 Social Studies 10 and 11 A Fine Art or An Applied Skill 10, 11 or 12 4 Electives at the grade 10, 11 or 12 level 3 Electives at the grade 12 level Graduation Transitions

Other ways to Attain Credits
Equivalency External Credits Course Challenge Courses take elsewhere Career Programs (i.e. ACE-IT) If you think you should be receiving some of these, but have not, bring proof of your courses to your counsellor

Language Challenge Challenge is for Grade 11 or Grade 12 language
IF students qualify, they can take the “Language Challenge Exam” without taking the course Application deadline is Requires a refundable deposit SEE MS. GRAF for more details

Constant process of inquiry and reflections College/University does NOT guarantee a job Workforce, travel, trades, etc. The world of work puts emphasis on skills, knowledge and abilities (4 key skills: communicate, computer, continuous learning and collaboration) There is more than one path to the end goal
