“The Power of God in the Church of God”
I Corinthians 4:8-20
3
Already you have all you want. Already you have become rich
Already you have all you want! Already you have become rich! Without us you have become kings! And would that you did reign, so that we might share the rule with you! For I think that God has exhibited us apostles as last of all, like men sentenced to death, because we have become a spectacle to the world, to angels, and to men.
4
We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ
We are fools for Christ's sake, but you are wise in Christ. We are weak, but you are strong. You are held in honor, but we in disrepute. To the present hour we hunger and thirst, we are poorly dressed and buffeted and homeless, and we labor, working with our own hands. When reviled, we bless; when persecuted, we endure;
5
when slandered, we entreat
when slandered, we entreat. We have become, and are still, like the scum of the world, the refuse of all things. I do not write these things to make you ashamed, but to admonish you as my beloved children. For though you have countless guides in Christ, you do not have many fathers. For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the gospel.
6
I urge you, then, be imitators of me
I urge you, then, be imitators of me. That is why I sent you Timothy, my beloved and faithful child in the Lord, to remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach them everywhere in every church. Some are arrogant, as though I were not coming to you. But I will come to you soon, if the Lord wills, and I will find out not the talk of these arrogant people but their power.
7
For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power
For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power. I Corinthians 4:8-20
11
So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God. Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.
12
Now, brothers, I have applied these things to myself and Apollos for your benefit, so that you may learn from us the meaning of the saying, "Do not go beyond what is written." Then you will not take pride in one man over against another. I Corinthians 4:1-2;6
14
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” I Corinthians 12:27

The Church The Kingdom of God
18
“Therefore I urge you to imitate me
“Therefore I urge you to imitate me. For this reason I am sending to you Timothy, my son whom I love, who is faithful in the Lord. He will remind you of my way of life in Christ Jesus, which agrees with what I teach everywhere in every church.” I Corinthians 4:16-17
20
“But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” II Corinthians 4:7
22
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power
“For the kingdom of God is not a matter of talk but of power.” I Corinthians 4:20
24
"Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else
"Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else? ”Jesus replied, "Go back and report to John what you hear and see: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. Matthew 11:3-5
26
“Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves. I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.” John 14:11-12
28
“a few men became followers of Paul and believed.” Acts 17:34
30
“When I came to you, brothers, I did not come with eloquence or superior wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God. For I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.
31
I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling
I came to you in weakness and fear, and with much trembling. My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on men's wisdom, but on God's power.” I Corinthians 2:1-5
