Atlantic Slave Trade Trade of African peoples from Western Africa to the Americas. Lasted from 16th century until the 19th century.

Triangular Trade A system of commerce that connected Africa, the New World colonies, and Europe.

Middle Passage The second stage of the system of triangular trade that saw the transportation of enslaved Africans from Africa to the Americas.

Asante Empire (Ashanti)
An African empire that emerged along the Gold Coast. Was known for its gold and kola nut production and sale of slaves to Europeans. Lasted from the mid 17th to late 19th centuries.
