3 Record results on ISN p. 140 First measure around entire hand. Estimate how much longer the string will be when you go around each finger. Measure distance around each finger.

4 Absorption in your intestines
Absorption: when molecules pass through the wall of the digestive system into your blood. Materials not absorbed are eliminated as wastes.

5 Small Intestine This is where most chemical digestion takes place.
Thick liquid mixes with enzymes and secretions from the small intestine, liver and pancreas.

6 Liver Produces bile Bile breaks apart fat particles.
Bile is stored in the gallbladder

7 Pancreas Produces enzymes that help break down starches, proteins & fats.

8 Absorption in the Small Intestine
Inner surface of the small intestine is filled with millions of villi. The villi absorb nutrient molecules that pass to blood vessels.
