2. What is an Interprofessional (IP) team?
An interprofessional approach to health care, or IP for short, is the coordinated care of patients by a collaborative team of health care providers.
It means consulting with dentists, pharmacists, nurses, or whoever has the necessary expertise to contribute to the patient’s treatment plan.

Students from Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physician Assistant, and Psychology Programs

5. Opening Event
“Impact of environmental change on mental health & overall implications for patient care”

Engage in the socialization process to build a community of learners with students in interprofessional health care programs.

(Focus on understanding a noteworthy health care issue, related to numberous disciplines, that impacts patient/clients across all health care arenas).

6. Fall Event Teams/Teamwork and Communication Objectives:
Analyze effective and ineffective communication techniques; demonstrate effective communication strategies.
Identify key members of the IP team; recognize the importance of consensus building for Team Based Care delivery in collaborative practice to improve patient/family outcomes.
Conclude effective communications have opportunity to decrease health care errors.

NOTE – student to select one session to attend as respective discipline slots available

8. Spring Event
Roles and Responsibilities and Values and Ethics Objectives:
Discuss the role and responsibilities of the physical therapist, occupational therapist, physician’s assistant, nurse and counseling psychologist, both as a separate profession as well as within an interprofessional team.
 Identify and discuss the standards and congruency of values of ethical conduct for various members of an interprofessional healthcare team.
NOTE: these sessions will be schedule later in fall, 2017 for early in 2018 calendar year. Student will attend one 2 hour session.
