2 In the Bible, many folks are like their parents.
Abraham & Isaac. Omri & Ahab. “Omri did evil in the eyes of the Lord, and did worse than all who were before him” (1 Ki 16:25). “Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him” (1 Ki 16:30). The principle works positively, too.

3 Jesus Christ is the representation of the glory of God.

4 “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (Jn 14:9).
“He is the image of the invisible God” (Col 1:15). Jesus is “the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person” (Heb 1:3).

5 Matthew 17:1-9

6 Jesus Christ is the representation of the glory of God.

7 If you want to see God, go to Jesus.
Jesus, of course, is God in the flesh: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” (Jn 1:1). “In Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” (Col 2:9). As we look at Jesus’ actions in the flesh, we see how God would act. “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (Jn 14:9).

8 If you want to know the truth of God, go to Jesus.
“God has in these last days spoken to us by His Son”(Heb 1:1-2). “I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak. And I know that His command is everlasting life. Therefore, whatever I speak, just as the Father has told Me, so I speak” (Jn 12:49-50).

9 How do we hear Jesus today?
We go to Scripture.

10 God gave Jesus all authority.
“All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth” (Matt 28:18). Jesus gave that authority to His apostles. “When He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come” (Jn 16:13).

11 With that authority, the apostles recorded the inspired Scriptures.
“If anyone thinks himself to be a prophet or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things which I write to you are the commandments of the Lord” (1 Cor 14:37). “When you received the word of God which you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God” (1 Thess 2:13).

12 Do you need to go to Jesus to have your sins forgiven this morning?
