10 factors will shape the video infrastructure and cloud services market
The explosion of endpoints requires a scalable architecture. Pricing and desire for agility push the hardware to software transition. Business priorities emphasize customer and partner collaboration. Simpler meet me offerings without call control promote adoption. Cloud offerings catch up to on-premises capabilities. Traditional infrastructure vendors invest in their own video clouds. Network bandwidth considerations promote hybrid deployment models. Interoperability with Google Apps and Microsoft Lync as a priority Google and Microsoft make a stronger push to offer complete solutions. Fuze and Zoom offer video bridging and interoperability as a feature.
14
We chose 10 vendors and had to leave some out
All of these vendors have: Interoperability with standards-based room systems. First-party infrastructure offerings. Customer references. Sparked Forrester client inquiries and/or have a solution that put the vendor on our radar. We left out but should have included Star Leaf. We left out Google, Microsoft, Zoom, and Fuze for the reasons above.

Vendors differ by major functionality and commercial models

Pick from two scenarios
Complement existing infrastructure with: Scalability at a lower cost. Interoperability with Google Apps or Microsoft Lync. Outside the firewall collaboration. Replace existing infrastructure with: Simpler, lower cost, and more flexible solutions.
20
Consider the following decision points
Unified communications and collaboration integrations Support for existing Cisco Systems, Polycom, and Lifesize endpoints Network bandwidth constraints Total cost of ownership Strive for: Simplicity (and self-service). Scalability. Universal addressability/connectivity. Interoperability. Agility.
