2 Introduction Can anyone tell anything about Natural Resources?
What is Natural Resource Management ESAL NSJ, ESAL

3 Definition of Natural Resource
A natural resource is anything that people can use which comes from nature. People do not make natural resources, but gather them from the earth.  Examples of natural resources are air, water, wood, oil, wind, energy, iron and coal. NSJ, ESAL

4 Quotation “Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but not every man’s greed”. Mahatma Gandhi NSJ, ESAL

6 Renewable Resources A renewable resource is a resource which can be used repeatedly because it is replaced naturally. Renewable resources may include goods or commodities such as wood, paper and leather, because their sources are renewable. NSJ, ESAL

7 Non renewable resources
A nonrenewable resource is a resource of economic value that cannot be readily replaced by natural means on a level equal to its consumption.  non-renewable resource (also called a finite resource) is a resource that does not renew itself at a sufficient rate for sustainable economic extraction in meaningful human time-frames. NSJ, ESAL

8 Natural Resource Management
Natural resource management refers to the management of natural resources such as land, water, soil, plants and animals. Natural resource management deals with managing the way in which people and natural landscapes interact. Natural resource managers guide sustainable development to protect environmental assets. Good governance is just not about processes and reform of systems, it is also about the integrity of those implementing and operating the governance system in natural resource management.  Transparency in natural resource governance is critical if pursued in its true intent. That is, the space must be created for citizens’ to have access to relevant information. NSJ, ESAL

11 Good Governance Continue
Participation and accountability are critical elements in good natural resource governance; and along with transparency, they are necessary ingredients for solving nagging curses that come with resource exploitation. NSJ, ESAL

12 The Benefit of Good Governance in Managing natural resources
When natural resources are managed well, citizens’ Confidence in their public officials increases. They feel the effects of revenues generated and development projects. The Entire communities are resurrected from the poverty. NSJ, ESAL
