ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION Prepared by: NATIONAL DIRECTORATE OF VESSEL EXAMINATION AND RECREATIONAL BOATING SAFETY PROGRAM VISITATION

2 MISSION STATEMENT To minimize loss of life, personal injury, property damage, and the environmental impact associated with the use of recreational boats through preventative means to maximize the safe use and enjoyment of United States waterways by the public.

3 MISSION ACCOMPLISHMENT
Utilizes 3-pronged approach Outreach educational efforts to the boating public through direct face-to-face boating safety information exchange. Performing free checks of a vessel’s equipment for compliance with Federal and state safety requirements. Interface with local marine dealers and other Partners who have an interest in conspicuously supporting RBS by allowing the free distribution of RBS pamphlets and brochures in their place of business.

4 ADDITIONAL SERVICES Serves our customers (District VE and PV staff officers) by effectively and efficiently managing the administration aspects of the Auxiliary’s RBS program. Monitors the VSC and PV programs of the U.S. Power Squadrons. Managed by the Directorate’s six Divisions.

The V-Directorate is one of three Recreational Boating Safety Directorates on the National level. We consistently work hand in hand with our “sister” directorates, the B-Directorate (RBS Outreach) and the E-Directorate (Education ) to meet the goals of the National Strategic Plan.

National V-Directorate Awards for presentation at NACON (1st & 2nd Place Flotillas in Nation for VSCs and PVs Help districts develop incentive programs to increase VSC and PV production Promote the earning of the RBS Device Promote the Annual RBS Performance Service Awards

11 COMMUNICATIONS Provide communication media for the dissemination of information: VENET V-Directorate Web pages Social Media Assist in providing materials for national conferences and quarterly reports to NEXCOM Provide analysis and spreadsheets of information from AUXDATA and AUXINFO Manage the online “I want a VSC” program

12 TECHNICAL SUPPORT Coordinate with internal divisions to review and interpret boating regulations and related material Review the accuracy and effectiveness of the VE test battery Provide quarterly news articles for the RBS newsletter as it pertains to technical issues involved with Vessel Safety Checks

13 SPECIAL PROJECTS Life Jacket Wear Observation Study
