Domain & Range 3.3 (From a graph & equation)
2
Use the graph to find the domain and range
The graph represents the points (-1.8,5.2) (-4.8,3.2) (-4.8, -2.8) The domain is: {-1.8, -4.8} The range is {2.8, 3.2, 5.2}
3
Name the Domain and Range From a Graph
The set of ordered pairs may be an infinite number of points as described by a graph. Domain:{all numbers} Range:{y:y≥0}
4
Does the graph represent a function? Name the domain and range.
x y Yes D: all reals R: all reals R: y ≥ -6 x y
5
Does the graph represent a function? Name the domain and range.
x y No D: x ≥ 1/2 R: all reals D: all reals x y
6
Does the graph represent a function? Name the domain and range.
x y Yes D: all reals R: y ≥ -6 No D: x = 2 R: all reals x y
7
Domain from an Equation
Most functions do not have restrictions on the domain and the domain is all real numbers. There can be a restriction on the domain if the function is a radical or a fraction because: -Square roots must be greater than or equal to zero. -Denominators cannot equal zero.
