What is it? Mzt7/Rzt7 magnetic cylinder sensorS
Magnetic cylinder sensors detect the magnetic field of a magnet that is integrated in the piston of a cylinder. The sensing element detects the magnetic field , which produces a signal to notify the user of the piston position. The MZT7 (solid state) and RZT7 (Reed) are SICK’s core family of T-slot magnetic cylinder sensors. Date Name | Event | Confidential

Features and benefits Mzt7/Rzt7 magnetic cylinder sensorS
Combination screw for flathead screwdrivers and allen keys – locks the sensor instantly with just a quarter turn and cannot fall out. The screw ensures reliable detection as the sensor keeps its position despite slot tolerances, vibration or cable pull. Security retaining ribs - on each side of the sensor - for one hand mounting so the sensor does not fall out of the slot during installation Side view Universal housing design - to cover all major cylinders types/brands with only one sensor from SICK. This means fewer part numbers, inventory reduction, design flexibility and easier service processing for customers. Drop-in mounting instead of “turn-in“ or “slide-in“ - Workers need only a few seconds to mount the sensor. Simply dropping the sensor in the slot and locking it in place with a quarter turn saves a lot of time when service/replacement is needed. Date Name | Event | Confidential

Features and benefits Mzt7/Rzt7 magnetic cylinder sensorS
M/RZT7 Features Benefits Universal housing covers all major cylinder types / brands with a single sensor from SICK. Customers do not need to handle as many part numbers and can carry less inventory. Workers need only a few seconds for rop-In mounting Immense time savings by not removing cylinder end caps. The captive combination screw can conveniently be tightened using either a flathead screwdriver or allen key. The screw ensures reliable switching detection since it keeps the sensor in its position despite slot tolerances, vibration, or cable pull. Easy set up due to the captive screw permanently fixed in sensor housing (unable to be lost on manufacturing floor). Retaining ribs on each side of the sensor allow one-hand mounting so the sensor does not fall out of the slot during installation. These ribs ensure a quality installation for the customer and also save time. Date Name | Event | Confidential

Frequently Asked questions
Mzt7/Rzt7 magnetic cylinder sensorS Where does this product fit in the existing family offering? The M/RZT7 family are SICK’s core family of T-slot magnetic cylinder sensors. This should be your Go-To magnetic cylinder sensor family. What customer needs does this new product address? This family addresses the need for a high-performing magnetic cylinder sensor at an extremely competitive price point. What is the migration plan for customers with installed base? The M/RZT7 family will eventually be replacing both the M/RZT6 and M/RZT1 families. There are no set dates for these discontinuations at this time. How long will the ‘old versions’ be available & supported? There will be discontinuation notifications sent out within the next year for both the M/RZT6 and M/RZT1. SICK will give as much notice as possible of these discontinuations. Date Name | Event | Confidential

Frequently Asked questions
Mzt7/Rzt7 magnetic cylinder sensorS Are there specific strategic industries this product is focused on? The M/RZT7 cylinder sensors should be focused on any pneumatic cylinders or grippers and the primary markets are those with a higher usage. They are universal in factory automation: assembly and handling machines, packaging machines and electronics production. How does this product launch provide an opportunity to consult with my customer? SICK has an incredible portfolio of pneumatic and magnetic cylinder sensors. This would be an opportunity to show something new to customers and then introduce our entire portfolio as well. What are appropriate questions I should ask my customers in reference to this product? Do you use pneumatic cylinders or grippers? What sensors do you use on them? Why? How will I get trained on this new product? Please take the time to watch PDK 322 MZT7 / RZT7 Magnetic Cylinder Sensors. If you need a more basic introduction to cylinder sensors, PDK 222 Magnetic Cylinder Sensor Overview and PDK 301 Magnetic Cylinder Sensor Selection Guide are available as well.
