2 CONNECTING YOUR FILIMIN TO WiFi

3 Before you begin… 1 2 3 4 Remove your lamp from the packaging.
Find a spot near your WiFi router to plug it in… the closer the better! 2 Make sure you have a WiFi enabled device, such as a laptop, tablet, or smartphone. 3 Have your router's Wi-Fi name and password handy. 4 Before you begin…

4 On your laptop, tablet, or smartphone…
Open your web browser (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Explorer, etc.) Enter this URL: (or simply click the link) Scroll until you see this:

5 Click the bubble that says: 1. CONNECT YOUR FILIMIN TO YOUR WiFi

6 Click “OK” to proceed to SETUP.

7 Plug in your Filimin lamp.
If you have not plugged in your lamp, do this now. If you already plugged in your lamp, unplug it and then plug it in again. **You will have two minutes to complete the set up once the lamp is plugged in. Plug in your Filimin lamp.

8 When you plug in the lamp it will be green and blinking.
Soon after that, it will change to orange and blinking.

9 Locate your WiFi networks.
On a Windows laptop, the icon is most likely on your task bar and will look something like this: On a Mac, the icon will be at the top right and will look like this: On an iPhone or iPad, the icon will most likely look like this: On an Android device, the icon will most likely look like this: Locate your WiFi networks.

10 Find the Filimin network on the list of available WiFi networks.
In addition to your home WiFi network and other networks within range of your device, you will see a Filimin network. It will say: Filimin_####### (The #s will be actual digits that correspond to your Filimin ID.) Select the Filimin network. If you see an option to remember the network or connect automatically, be sure that option is unchecked. Find the Filimin network on the list of available WiFi networks.

11 You will be asked to enter a security key or password.
The password is: I love you This is a capital letter I (as in igloo) followed by a space, then lowercase l-o-v-e, space, lowercase y-o-u.

12 Your lamp will change to violet and blink slowly.
The Filimin website on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone will update and look like this:

13 Select your router's Wi-Fi name from the drop menu.

14 Enter the password for your network
Enter the password for your network. **This is the password you would normally use to connect devices to your home WiFi.

15 Click Next.

16 If given the option, click Save.

17 Your lamp will change colors: green, red, aqua, and finally, cycle through a rainbow signaling successful configuration.

18 Configuration complete.
If your settings are saved successfully, the Filimin website on your laptop, tablet, or smartphone will update and look like this: Configuration complete.

19 When you touch the lamp it should light a solid color.
It should change colors each time you touch it.

20 If you’re still having trouble…
If you are using a Windows laptop, try Auto Configuration. Follow this link to download a program that will configure the lamp to your WiFi automatically: *Note: this will not work on a Mac. Make sure your WiFi network is dual band or running on 2.4GHz. If you’re not sure, this information is usually printed somewhere on the router, or you would be able to find out from your internet service provider. Make sure you are as close as possible to the router. The lamp can be moved to another location once set up is complete. Make sure you are not using WiFi provided by a university or company. - Filimin is designed to use home WiFi and is not compatible with the type of WiFi used by many institutions (WPA-Enterprise). - See if there is a “guest” WiFi network available, or contact your institution’s IT team to find out how to connect to their network. 22 Registering your Filimin
On your laptop, tablet, or smartphone… Return to: (or simply click the link) Scroll until you see this: Registering your Filimin

23 Click the bubble that says: 2
Click the bubble that says: 2. CREATE AN ACCOUNT, REGISTER AND SET UP YOUR FILIMIN

24 You’ll be redirected to the Filimin Manager website
You’ll be redirected to the Filimin Manager website. Enter your address and click Login.

25 Now you’ll need to check your e-mail for a link to log in to the Filimin Manager.

26 You have only 15 minutes to complete registration
You have only 15 minutes to complete registration. If you cannot complete it within 15 minutes, simply return to the Filimin Manager website and request a new link by entering your address again.

27 Enter your name and e-mail address, then click Register.

28 Click “Register New Filimin” to complete the registration for your lamp.

29 Choose a name for your Filimin – this can be your own name, or any other name you’d like to use to identify your lamp in the group. Enter the Filimin ID number. **Note there will never be a letter O as in Oscar or I as in igloo in the ID number. There may be zeros or ones.

30 The Filimin ID is located on the bottom of the lamp, below the bar code.
This number should match the number that appeared when you searched for the Filimin in your WiFi networks. (For example, Filimin_ F9C1D) The Filimin ID number is located here.

31 Now you’ll need to add your Filimin to a group.

32 If you’re the first person to set up a group, click “Create a new group”.

33 If your friend or family member already created a group, join the group by clicking “Join an existing group”.

34 Creating a Group Start by clicking “Create New Group”.

35 Name Your Group This can be your family name or any other name.

36 Your new group will appear under “My Groups”
Your new group will appear under “My Groups”. You still need to join your group, and your friends and family will need to join too before you can communicate.

37 Click “Invite User” to invite a friend or family member to the group.

38 Enter your friend or family member’s e-mail address and click “Send”.

39 The e-mail they receive will look like this.

40 If you’re invited to join someone else’s group, you’ll receive an that looks like this. The new group will appear in your Filimin dashboard.

41 If your Filimin is on the left under “Unassigned Filimin” you are not in the group yet. Any Filimin in the group that is gray has not been registered yet.

42 Click on your lamp and drag it into the group.

43 Your lamp will update.

44 Now your lamp is in the group, and it can communicate with any of the other active lamps in the group. **An active lamp is in color; you cannot communicate with a gray lamp.

45 If you’re having trouble joining the group, take a look at this video:

46 Setting the Color Range of your Filimin You may want to assign a specific color or range of colors to each lamp in a group so the others will know who’s thinking of them. In this example, Grandpa sets his color wheel to green. When he touches his lamp it will turn only shades of green, and any lamps linked to his will also turn green.

47 Bandwidth: the amount of information that a connection to the internet can handle in a given time.
