2 The human body is about two-thirds water
The human body is about two-thirds water. This should be your first clue to its importance. It is essential in many different ways, from the consistency of our blood to the aiding the ability of our nerves to communicate with each other. Water is conductive and it allows electrical impulses to travel around the body. Without it, we wouldn’t be able to do anything. In fact, without it, we’d be dead. Keeping ourselves well hydrated has many, many, benefits, from helping us to stay alert to improved digestion and the fight against various infections. You don’t need to lose much water to start to feel the effects of dehydration.

3 Here are some of the common symptoms you can expect if you're suffering from inadequate hydration:
Muscle cramps Tiredness and a lack of vitality Headaches (it’s one of the leading causes of headache) Cold Dizziness Feeling sick Constipation Many experts agree that the symptom of thirst means that you are already dehydrated. We are supposed to maintain a steady flow of water, rather than to wait for the signal.

4 It’s important that you drink the correct amount of water
It’s important that you drink the correct amount of water. The average man requires around 2 litres of water, while the average woman requires around 1.6 litres. There are online calculators that can help you work out exactly how much water you need to drink. They take account of things such as BMI and height to provide you with a much more tailored answer. On hotter days, or when you have done a lot of exercise, you will need to increase your water intake. Here, it’s worth taking a hydrating supplement, such as Megahydrate, because that will also help to replenish the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that you have passed through sweat – these are called “electrolytes” and you will find them in common sports drinks as well as in the hydrating supplements. As well as drinking and taking supplements such as Megahydrate, we also get water from our food. Certain foods are more hydrating than others are. These include lettuce, broccoli, and tomatoes.

5 You might have heard that caffeinated drinks (e. g
You might have heard that caffeinated drinks (e.g. coffee, tea, coke) cause dehydration, but this is not strictly true. They do have a diuretic effect (i.e. they make you pass more water than you would have done without the drink) but the amount of water that you consume within these drinks offsets the amount you lose. In other words, you take on more than you lose through the diuretic effect. However, you will need to drink more of them to ensure you get the correct amount of water. For instance, 1-pint of water will rehydrate you more than 1-pint of coffee – you would probably need to drink around 1.3 pints of coffee to obtain the same levels of hydration as the water. Finally, it’s important too that you don’t overhydrate. This can be just as bad as being dehydrated. As with everything, you need to take on liquid in moderation.
