AASL1.1.7 Skill þ: Make sense of information gathered from diverse sources by identifying misconceptions, main and supporting ideas, conflicting information, and point of view or bias. AASL Grade Level Benchmark (Grade 2) Summarize or retell key points. AASL Grade Level Benchmark (Grade 5) Recognize when facts from two different sources conflict and seek additional sources to verify accuracy Recognize their own misconceptions when new information conflicts with previously held opinions ASSL Skills: Come directly from AASL. Includes benchmarks for grades 2, 5, 8, 10, and 12. This gives the educator a glimpse into how the skill progresses through the grade levels. Allowing for opportunities to differentiate. A skill is designated by a checkmark.

Dispositions in Action: 2.2.3: Remember a disposition in action reflects the actions you should see in the classroom. Lesson Ideas? Take a digital camera on a field trip. Upload the photographs into PowerPoint. Kindergarten: Write or draw one word to depict the picture. Discuss First Grade: Have students write a sentence that includes details for each photo then analyze the connections between illustration and text. Second Grade: Have students create a diagram or other text feature from specific photos from the field trip.
