The individual dots of light that make up the basic units of a raster image
Pixels are square or rectangular in shape
The term pixel is short for picture elements which refer to the individual dots that show on a computer screen
The higher the number of pixels the sharper the image

A percentage that indicates the amount of transparency of a layer or object

An effect that uses feathering to fade a marquee shape

24. Flattening
Merges all visible layers into a single background layer and discards all hidden layers
This technique is used at the end of a Photoshop project to reduce the size of a file

25. Frames
The placeholders for text and images in Adobe InDesign
