2. Sustantivos en Español
A bit about Spanish nouns: Like in English, nouns in Spanish are used to identify people, animals, places, things, or ideas. Unlike in English, all Spanish nouns (even those that refer to non-living things) have gender: masculine or feminine.

Certain noun endings are strongly associated with a specific gender, so you can use them to deterine if a noun is a masculine or feminine. However, there are always exceptions to the rule.
