1 The function of the different lobes of the cerebrum
Frontal Lobe Parietal Lobe Temporal Lobe Occipital Lobe Vidermann Mátyás B. – XOJS4V

2 Functions of the Frontal Lobe
It is responsible for voluntary movement, and associated with executive functions. Choosing between good and bad Percieving the future consequences of current actions Determining similarities and differencies Advanced decision making processes Preservation of emotional memories Fit socially acceptable norms Override and suppress the socially unacceptable responses

3 Functions of the Temporal Lobe
It contains the hearing center of the brain, the primary auditory cortex. It processes sensory input e.g.: language comprehension auditory information naming. Wernicke’s area: speech comprehension Broca’s area: production of speech The memory center (hippocampus) is located here: Formation of emotion associated long term memories. Preservation of long-term and short-term memories

4 Functions of the Parietal Lobe
The lobe is associated with sensory skills. It contains the somatosensory cortex and part of the visual system. Functions related to the lobe: Process information about the sense of touch Spatial processing Understanding numbers Navigation Processing of images

5 Functions of the Occipital Lobe
The lobe is the visual processing center of the brain, it contains the visual cortex. Functions realated to the lobe: Color discrimination Visuospatial processing Motion perception Links:
