5. Complex Sentence: 1 independent clause + at least 1 subordinate clause
Every few laps, cyclists stop in the pit area, where mechanics change tires and make adjustments.

6. Compound-Complex Sentence:
2 or more independent clauses + at least 1 subordinate clause
