1 HJMS Summer Reading 2016 All incoming 7th and 8th grade students are expected to read and log their books electronically on the Simsbury Public Library’s website.

2 Required Summer Reading
Students entering 7th Grade must: Read at least 500 pages Students entering 8th Grade must: Read at least 2 grade appropriate texts All students must: Log your reading into the Governor's Summer Reading Program on the Simsbury Public Library's website Print your booklist and bring it with you on the first day of school All your books will be logged into the SPL website All the information about summer reading will be sent to the Governor's office from the SPL

3 Locating the Summer Reading Log
The Henry James Library Media Center Page. OR The Simsbury Public Library Teen Page. Navigate to HJMS LMC page Find info about summer reading Click on the Summer Reading Sign In link.

4 Sign Me Up If you are new to the Simsbury Public Schools, you may create a username and password that you will remember. If you are presently enrolled in the Simsbury Public Schools, you should use your regular username and school password. If you have any problems logging in to record your books, see the librarian at the Simsbury Public Library.

5 Registering for Summer Reading
Students new to Simsbury will need to complete the registration screen. You are not required to have your own account. You may use your parent’s account, as this is only to retrieve a forgotten password. You need to fill in all of the information with an * If you have an address, or you know your family's (or parent's) address, please put it in. addresses are helpful if you forget your username or password. You can also go to the Simsbury Public Library to reset your password. You do not need a public library card to use this program.

6 Navigating the Page Click here to go to the Simsbury Public Library’s Teen Page. Click here to log in book titles and write reviews. Click here to change your password. The SPL stands for Simsbury Public Library Add/View Log is where you will go to log your books My info is where you will go to make changes to your profile, if need be.

7 Check Out the Reviews Reviews are found at the bottom of the main Login page. Found at the bottom of the page. Click on the link at the end of the review. This will bring you to the SPL catalog. It will show you the cover of the book and will tell you if the book is available. You do not need to add this to your review, the SPL will do this for you. You are NOT required to write a review. Reviews are monitored by the librarian at the Simsbury Public Library, therefore they will not show up immediately. No names will be attached to these reviews.

8 Adding a Book to Your List
Click on Reviews are moderated. Therefore, they will not post immediately. Reviews don't have to be long. Your name will not be posted with your review, so only the Simsbury public librarian will know who wrote the review. You are required to add your books to your list. Click on Add/View Log and fill in the required information.

9 How to Print Your Book List
you will find a print button. Sort by Log Date/Time and At the bottom of the click print. There are several options as to how to print. Select Log Date/Time. Click the print button and your page will print. Do not expect to print this at school on the first day. Your school log in won’t be ready and therefore, you will not be able to access our school computers. Print from home or the Simsbury Public Library.
