1 Solar Panels

2 Amorphous solar panels
There are 2 different types of solar panels. These include: Amorphous solar panels Crystalline solar panels

3 Amorphous solar panels Pros
Are cheap and simple to produce Are durable and use less silicon Are 100 times thinner than typical crystalline solar panels

4 Amorphous solar panel Cons
Deteriorate over years of use Produce less electricity Takes up more space

5 Crystalline solar panels Pros
Lasts a little longer than amorphous solar panels. Takes up less space than the amorphous. Also produces more electricity than amorphous

6 Crystalline solar panels cons
Are expensive to make. Less durable than amorphous panels. Use more silicon than amorphous panels. Hard to build.

7 How are solar panels made?

8 The major components of a solar panel is silicon.
Silicon comes in 2 forms: crystalline and amorphous

9 Amorphous solar panels
Are made of a homogenous layer of silicon atoms and semiconductors sprayed on a material, typically metal or glass Are produced in one session

10 To make solar cells for crystalline solar panels
To make solar cells for crystalline solar panels. Crystalline silicon is cut into thin strips(which are also known as wafers). These wafers are cut into shape and polished. Last any holes are filled in to finish the crystalline solar panel.

11 How do solar panels conduct electricity?

12 Light flows into solar cells, made of silicon
The light then travels down into wires which are connected from the solar panel to the circuit Light then hits the semiconductor, which converts it into electricity.
