2. An important part of taking a trip (if you are driving) is knowing how much money you will need for gas.

3. You need to know several things to do this calculation:
Distance travelled
Consumption rate of vehicle
Cost of gas per litre

4. Once we know this we use the formula:
Cost of Driving = Total Distance x Gas Consumption Rate x Cost per Litre ÷ 100

Ex2. Mrs. Cooper is driving home to NL from her house in Cole Harbour. The distance one way is 892km. She drives a Mitsubishi Outlander, and the fuel consumption rating is 7.6 L per 100 Km. When she drove there for Christmas the gas cost $1.31 per litre.
How far did she travel both ways?
How much did she have to budget for gas for the trip?

7. You Try:
Using the current cost of gas and a car that has a fuel efficiency rating of 8.1 L per 100 Km, calculate how much gas you will need to drive to Calgary to get to your new job. It is about 4769km from Dartmouth to Calgary.
