One Centimorgan equals about 1 million base pairs

Match Basics Sorting matches Shared Matches Hints New Matches
Starred Matches Mother/Father Genetic Communities Search Notes
31
Working your Matches Sorting Matches Shared Matches Hints New Matches
Relation, Date, Hints, New, Starred Shared Matches Make plenty of Notes. Sorting Hints Examine quality of trees. Determine if there is more than one common ancestor. Make notes of shared matches New Matches See most recent matches Starred Matches Mark matches as important Mark as unread so they continue to appear in your new matches
32
Working your Matches Mother/Father Genetic Communities Search
Shared matches less than 20cM do not appear in the list. Genetic Communities Filters by shared Communities. Search Search by Surname or Location
33
Match Strategies Look for what you already know.
People you have collaborated with. Known relatives. If none of these apply look at closest matches. Make Notes of shared matches once you have determined relationship Determine reference matches Matches that have been verified, look for them in list of shared matches.
