8. This Term’s Project
We are studying a new project (“Food, Glorious Food”) from now until October half-term.
We will explore the origin in the world of different foods (GEOGRAPHY) and how they get to us, and the responsibilities of sharing our earth’s resources (RE). We will explore what makes a nutritious and balanced diet (PSHE), with opportunities to plan, design and make varied recipes (DT), while learning about good food hygiene and costing the ingredients. Many stories and non-fiction books will be shared and the children will learn how to write their own instructions for making recipes, and their own narratives around food (ENGLISH). Computers will be used to aid this (Computing). Songs and music about food will be sung, listened to and created (Music).
We are also planning a food-related educational outing – please watch this space! Our end of term project will be to produce a menu of edible treats from around the world to showcase during International Week. .

We are in the process of deciding this as a class. More details to follow.

10. Maths
Maths this term will mainly be focused on number (counting, addition and subtraction to begin with):
Reading and writing numbers up to 100 in numerals and words;
Counting forwards and backwards in ones, twos, fives and tens up to 100;
Recognising patterns in number, including odd and even;
Using addition and subtraction to solve worded problems.
Understand and use mathematical vocabulary, including:
equal to, more than, less than (fewer), most, least.
Understand and use number bonds and related subtraction facts within 20.
Add and subtract one-digit and two-digit numbers to 20, including zero.
Solve one-step problems that involve addition and subtraction, using concrete objects and pictorial representations, and missing number problems such as
7 = □ – 9.

11. PE/MEND PE/Dance will be on Wednesdays starting from tomorrow.
MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it!) will continue on Fridays.
Please ensure children have their PE kits with them on Wednesdays and Fridays

12. Homework
From Christmas children will be receiving English and Maths weekly homework along with spellings. Please read with your child for 10 minutes every day if you can (reading books will be changed on Fridays).
