7 Key documents

8 College-delivered dual credits
Students take a Level 1 apprenticeship (OYAP) program Credit is recorded on the college record using college course codes Credit is also recorded on the OST using a special dual credit course code assigned by the Ministry of Education. (Dual Credit Policy p.7)

9 College-delivered dual credits
Maximum of 4 can count as optional credits towards the OSSD Cannot be used as substitution for compulsory courses. External music credits are included in the 4 credit maximum (Dual Credit Policy p. 8)

10 College-delivered dual credits
If a student earns more than 4 credits, only 4 will show on the OST; all will show on the provincial report card. The process is outlined on page 12 of the OST manual

11 College-delivered dual credits
Assessment and evaluation are the responsibility of the college instructor Growing Success does not apply (Dual Credit Policy p. 19)

12 Setting up a Dual Credit College-Delivered College Course
When the course is added, a check is done to see if more than one description exists for the course code.  If it does, then a box appears to the right of the course code.  The user can open the drop down list and select whichever course description is valid.

15 College-delivered Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credits
For level 1 apprenticeship courses, the name of the college does not appear on the OST. “Level 1 App” followed by the MAESD name of the apprenticeship and the MAESD code The default passing grade is 60% If the passing grade is not 60%, users must select the appropriate college title (Dual Credit Policy p. 15)

16 Level 1 Apprenticeship Passing Grades
It’s important to select the right college in the school SMS system…even though the name of the college will not appear on the student’s transcript…because the passing grade is not the same at all colleges. Credit Value Passing Grade # of Hours College TKA4Y Cook Level 1 App: Cook 415A 415A 3.00 50 360 Humber 60 Level 1 App Level 1 App: Cook 415A 70 Conestoga Durham 63 Lambton Sault

17 College-delivered Level 1 Apprenticeship Dual Credits
Level 1 apprenticeship courses are all multiple-credit courses If students do not successfully complete the entire program, partial credit can be granted. The college instructor and the dual credit teacher would jointly make that decision The word “partial” appears on the OST after the name of the Level 1 program (OST manual p. 11)

18 Granting Partial Credit in Trillium
In this example, a student earned 1.5 credits in a 3.0 credit course. Using the transcript information window, bring up the student and the specific course.  Enter the final mark, if it’s not there already, then change the earned credit field to 1.50.  Leave the attempted credit at 3.0.  This combination of the earned credit being less than the attempted credit will also cause the transcript to display “partial credit”  as part of the course title.

19 This slide shows the fields completed as you add the course directly to the Transcript Information window.

20 This slide shows the Transcript Information window after the user has changed the earned credit to 1.5.  Note the checkbox to the right of the field, which indicates that the field value has been overwritten.

21 OST Showing College-delivered
Level 1 Apprenticeship Date Year Month Course Grade Course Title Course Code Percentage Grade Credit Compulsory Note 12 LEVEL 1 APP A: Cook 415A (Partial) TKA4Y 74 1.50 LEVEL 1 APP A: Carpentry 403A TSA4Y 80 2.00 TKA4Y has a value of 3 credits. This student did not successfully complete the program but was awarded 1.5 credits. Note that “partial” appears after the Course Title. Note that in order to grant any credit, the grade must be equal to or higher than the passing grade for that course. TSA4Y has a value of 2 credits. The student successfully completed the Level 1 program.

22 Check for Accuracy Create a test transcript.
Note that for Level 1 Apprenticeship courses, no college name appears. (XXX4Y) For partial completion of Level 1 OYAP Apprenticeship dual credits, the word “partial” appears with the title of the course. For team-taught dual credits, “dual credit” appears along with the title of the course

23 Reporting to OnSIS Through “class enrolment” Through “other credits”

24 Reporting to OnSIS through “Class Enrolment”
College-delivered dual credit classes can be created without an educator if necessary Ensures consistency of report card, OST, transmission to OCAS and OUAC Allows tracking of credits earned vs credits attempted Courses count towards student’s FTE

25 Reporting to OnSIS through “Other Credits”
Courses could be missed in transmissions to OCAS Doesn’t generate dual credit teacher funding through the GSN

26 Reporting to OnSIS through “Other Credits”
Dual Credit manually entered in the Transcript Information window in Add Course/Section

27 Reporting to OnSIS through “Other Credits”

28 Reporting to OnSIS through “Other Credits”
“Final Mark” field must be entered “Attempted Credit” and “Earned Credit” fields in the Course tab must be verified to make sure that the correct value is entered.
