Chaperone Responsibilities
Be at Hull at 4:50 a.m. to check in your group. Sit with your group on the bus. Lead by example. You must follow all school rules on the trip. This does mean that there can be NO smoking on this trip. You must accompany students at all times. This includes monitoring the restroom. You will need to actively supervise all students. Do not be afraid to enforce the rules. There is a great deal of walking involved in this trip. Please make sure you are prepared!

Chaperone Responsibilities

Chaperone Responsibilities
Make sure students clean up all trash, especially at lunch. Serve as a guide in the learning process. Please remember not to cluster with other chaperones. We need all chaperones spread out throughout the group assisting with supervision. Provide encouraging and positive words throughout the trip. Once again, smoking is not permitted at anytime on this trip. Turn off or silence your cell phone. We need your full attention on the students in your group.
9
Chaperone Responsibilities
We will provide safe and appropriate times for photos. There will not be an opportunity to shop on this trip. In fairness to the rest of the 4th grade classes, please do not purchase ANYTHING at the rest stops or at the Canyon. Walk at the end of your group so that you can see ALL students at ALL times. Shopping at vending machines or shops is not allowed for chaperones and students. Check the bus to make sure it is clean and clear before exiting. When returning to school, please remain with your group until all students have been picked up. HAVE FUN ON THE TRIP!!!

And now a word about the “Wood Bee” aka “Carpenter Bee”
There are special bees at the Grand Canyon called Wood Bees. They are really wonderful. Why? First, they are very big and easy to see. Second, they make a nice buzzing sound. Best of all, though, …. … they very rarely sting!!! They are basically harmless. Leave them alone so they can pollinate the flowers.
