Fieldnotes 1 Due in one week For the transcription: SPEAKING Model
Record minutes. Choose 3-5 minutes to transcribe. Type that word-for-word (I will check for accuracy) Add Monaghan’s conventions from p. 156. Use quotes from the transcription as evidence for the claims you make in the fieldnotes about social business SPEAKING Model Explicitly include it in your jottings (fill in each letter) or as a separate file 2-3 pages of fieldnotes: description and analysis Must cite at least one of the readings in your analysis Must include direct quotations from your transcript

Rapport Talk vs. Report Talk
“A way of establishing connections and negotiating relationships. Emphasis is placed on displaying similarities and matching experiences” (190). Examples? Report talk “A means to preserve independence and negotiate and maintain status in a hierarchical social order. This is done by exhibiting knowledge and skill, and by holding center stage through verbal performance” (190).
