“TRAPPED ON THE ROAD” Exodus 4:18-31 Dr. Dane Boyles
2
Exodus 4:18 18 Then Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Let me go back to my own people in Egypt to see if any of them are still alive.” Jethro said, “Go, and I wish you well.”
3
Exodus 4:19 19 Now the LORD had said to Moses in Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all the men who wanted to kill you are dead.”
4
Exodus 4:20 20 So Moses took his wife and sons, put them on a donkey and started back to Egypt. And he took the staff of God in his hand.
5
Exodus 4:21 21 The LORD said to Moses, “When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.
6
Exodus 4:22 22 Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the LORD says: Israel is my firstborn son,
7
Exodus 4:23 23 and I told you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’ ”
8
Exodus 4:24 24 At a lodging place on the way, the LORD met {Moses} and was about to kill him.
9
Exodus 4:25 25 But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched {Moses’} feet with it. “Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.
10
Exodus 4:26 26 So the LORD let him alone. (At that time she said “bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)
11
Exodus 4:27 27 The LORD said to Aaron, “Go into the desert to meet Moses.” So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him.
12
Exodus 4:28 28 Then Moses told Aaron everything the LORD had sent him to say, and also about all the miraculous signs he had commanded him to perform.
13
Exodus 4:29 29 Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites,
14
Exodus 4:30 30 and Aaron told them everything the LORD had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people,
15
Exodus 4:31 31 and they believed. And when they heard that the LORD was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.
16
1 Timothy 3:4 4 He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect.
17
1 Timothy 3:5 5 (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)
18
Hosea 11:1 1 “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.
19
Hosea 11:2 2 But the more I called Israel, the further they went from me. They sacrificed to the Baals and they burned incense to images.
20
Hosea 11:3 3 It was I who taught Ephraim to walk, taking them by the arms; but they did not realize it was I who healed them.
21
Hosea 11:4 4 I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love; I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.
22
Hosea 11:8 8 “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I treat you like Admah? How can I make you like Zeboiim? My heart is changed within me; all my compassion is aroused.
23
Hosea 11:9 9 I will not carry out my fierce anger, nor will I turn and devastate Ephraim. For I am God, and not man— the Holy One among you. I will not come in wrath.
24
John 3:16 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
