3. Statement of beliefs: specifying what the undersigned believed, the philosophy behind the document (from "We hold these Truths to be self-evident" to "an absolute Tyranny over these States").

4. List of complaints: the offenses that impelled the declaration (from "To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid World" to "unfit to be the ruler of a free people").

5. Statement of prior attempts to redress grievances: (From "Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our British brethren," to "Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.")

6. Signatures – John Hancock

7. Assignment
You are now going to declare your independence from your parents.
Write a Declaration with all 5 parts
Preamble – 3 sentences explaining what you are doing
Statement of Natural Rights – 1-2 sentences explaining WHY you are declaring your independence.
Grievances – at least 10 (should be complaints “You don’t let me…, You ….” NOT requests “I want to… I want…”)
Declare your actions – 1-2 sentences stating you are now going to be independent.
Signatures – sign your name
