1 Tuesday, October 3rd Good morning, children.
Today’s Big Idea Many stories, from children’s stories and fairy tales to short stories and novels, follow a very standard plot outline. Today’s Big Question: How are the elements of plot applied to “The War of the Wall”? Do not forget you have a reading log due this Thursday. Also, you will have a quiz this Friday on the Elements of Fiction and the three stories from the False Impressions unit. <<<<Copy this down in your agenda book now.

pot likker- liquid left after meat and/or vegetables have cooked full of sky- as if in another world fix her wagon- tell her off hunching each other- bumping someone with a shoulder or elbow laying down a heavy rap- saying something important sounded very tall- sounded proud

Morris Goes to eat in mama’s restaurant; claims to be starving; picky eater Watching the news and the kids spot graffiti on a subway; that’s what they plan to do to the wall Buy epoxy paint and head to the wall

9 Climax They get to the wall and it is awesome. It represents the community and central figures to the community’s culture.

10 Resolution pd3 The painter lady is actually Jimmy Lyons’ cousin, and she dedicated the wall to his honor

1 What was the painter lady preparing to do at the beginning of the story? 2 Why did this upset the narrator and Lou? 3 In what ways did the painter seem rude to the Morris twins and to Mama? 4 How did the narrator and Lou plan to recapture the wall? 5 What changed their mind?
